Pumpkin Painting Time

It's almost Halloween so it is time to decorate our pumpkin.  Carving isn't quite an option so it was time to paint our pumpkins.  Harper had a blast!! At one point I asked if she was done painting and she vigorously shook her head no.

Carpenter's Farm
We have been there a few times this year, but Daddy has never been with us.  So another trip to Carpenter's this morning and it was terrific as always.  We went to check out the pumpkins, goats, cows, pigs, and chickens but we left with a 1/2 bushel of jalapeno peppers.  Kerri has canned some from her garden and they are terrific.  Carpenter's has u-pick peppers.  So perfect reason for us to pick and can our own peppers. We figured we would start picking and see how far we got with Harper, well she loved it and just kept picking and picking.  She is a u-pick pro.  I think in the past year we have picked blueberries, strawberries, pumpkin, peppers and our garden.  We start them early :)

Mommy's Mini Me :)

Harper's Halloween costume this year -- 80's aerobics instructor :)

We went to our first trunk or treat tonight and we had a great time.  It was slightly chilly and really windy so we almost backed out of our costume idea, but decided we had to do it.  She is wearing double tights, double onsies, arm warmers and leg warmers and a vest -- I think she was all right :)

She figured out the whole trick or treat concept really quick.  She just loved going up to people and having them drop candy into her bucket, or better yet getting it herself to drop it in her bucket.  She did not let go of that boom box all night.  In fact, I got in trouble for trying to carry it for her.  Good part is, she doesn't know that you can actually eat all that candy, or that it is even candy for that matter.  It was just cool to have things in her bucket.

We had so much fun that we are hoping to attend another trunk or treat on wednesday and possibly the real deal on Thursday.  Lots and lots of fun ahead!!

Just on a whim I grabbed Harper's ankles and starting dragging her across the dining room floor.  Well she started giggling and LOVED it -- so much that she wore both Kurt and I out dragging her all across the floor.  Whenever you stopped she would just lay there and say "again - again".  She loved it!

Sunshine Award

One of my favorite blogs to check in on is my friend Erin's blog -- Hawk's Nest.  We met in RI/CT when we lived out there and then we moved and now they have moved and we are a million miles away but still fun to catch up through our blogs.  She has two adorable little kiddos and is always doing lots of fun things with them (really making me wishing we were closer so we could join in the fun).  But she was so sweet and nominated me for a Sunshine Award.  I am going to answer her questions and then nominate someone else because it feels really good to be recognized and bring a little sunshine to your day!  Thanks Erin!!

8. Nap or no nap?
No Nap -- unless I am really sick NO naps!!

Second, Elly over at Elly Says Opa makes the most delicious food!! I don't make her recipes nearly enough, but just checking in on her makes my mouth water everytime.

And Third, Click it Up a Notch, the best photography blog for Mommies!  That is my go to blog for all things photography related.  She is amazing and I am so thankful for all of her wonderful photography information.

Here are the Rules:

Potatoe pumpkin painting.
We took the idea off of pinterest and it was probably better off left on pinterest :)  It was fun to stamp paint all over the place, BUT it looked nothing like a pumpkin.  (Even though I almost lost a finger carving a pumpkin into the potatoe :)  But we had a great time! :)

After a morning of painting we went outside for a walk to enjoy the beautiful weather (it isn't going to stay around forever).

Harper found these crazy yellow berries and we had to pick them every time we saw them ( I am hoping - and pretty sure - they aren't poisonous).  Either way I made extra sure they never went towards her mouth, she is just a hoarder and had to have them in her hands at all times.

October 20th, 2013 -- Kurt's Bday!!

Happy Birthday Kurt!!

Party Time!!

Today we celebrated Kurt's birthday!  His whole family came over and we had chicken and waffles -- at his request.  (Definitely not my choice for a birthday dinner :) )  Anyways, we had a terrific dinner, yummy apple crisp cake, and of course it isn't a party without party blowers!!

Happy Birthday Kurt!!

This was our attempt at a family picture -- at least we are all in the picture -- and almost smiling :)

We went outside to play today and found a cow playing in the barn and a bee buzzing around the field.

Harper has been getting over a cold and we needed some nice fresh air today.  So I figured why not play around with some of the Halloween costumes we have -- we have to get some use out of them beyond just Halloween.  The pictures aren't quite wonderful by any means, but it doesn't matter -- Harper loved it!!  When we put on the cow costume she would moo like a cow and the bee costume she was so worried about keeping the hat on!  She loves saying Hat Hat Hat!!  Oddly enough she just loved playing dress up, guess we need to do this more often!!  And for anybody who is interested, I am pretty sure these will not be her Halloween costume -- stay tuned for the actual costume :)

Cutest cow and bee I have ever seen!!
